Hello, I am Maria
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. An expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't on the long-range plan. As with many international assignments, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, fresh routines, heightened expectations. Daily chores seemed more challenging than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Gentle Brook Co
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow travel content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.
